I have also managed to find a fellow Quins fan while out here - I won't mention any names just in case, but she is a dedicated fan in the city of Sao Paulo and is trying her best to convert all the locals to join the mighty Quins. Small world eh, oops - I also forgot to mention she played for the Quins ladies a few years back so a true Quin out here in Brazil - who would have thought it.

This week has been fairly quiet due to storms in the city and a lack of time for me to coach, due to the weather and other school commitments. But I have managed to fit in some quality time with another SESI school that is attached to mine. A few miles north of Tatui is the town of Cerqhilo which is attached to SESI Tatui. I went up there on Wednesday for the day and enjoyed myself immensely; the pupils were very happy to meet me and really got stuck into their first taste of rugby. I've said it many times but watch out world, here comes Brazil.

Seeing as it has been a quiet week I put some effort into promoting the Quins name around the school with posters again but this time on a larger scale. The senior team is very interested in Quins and many have become fans already within the few short weeks that I have been here. I'm hoping to convert the whole town to the Quins way soon enough!

With the children I am playing a very varied style, but I think it tends to get lost in translation on the odd occasion as the pupils just love to run more than anything else! I've seen some future sprinters for sure. On Saturday I spent the day with some lovely local English students who wanted to learn more about the English language. It was nice to not have to struggle with Portuguese for once as I had their help, and I must say they teach the English language well out here.

With the number of pupils beginning to understand the game growing every day I'm hoping for big things soon and hopefully some proper games of tag and touch, which is where we have started our coaching points. This is because we think that things could go a bit awry if we were to introduce contact too soon!

I'd also like to say a big thanks to everyone here, namely Flory, Fran, Sidnei, Marcelo, Jaquie, Ana, Nathalia, Gustavo and Sergio, who is Sidnei's secretary, for welcoming me here in Tatui. I couldn't have wished for a better welcome! I'd also like to wish Happy Birthday to project manager Amanda Lima at the British council in Sao Paulo. Without her assistance who knows what could have happened.

Today is another hot sunny day here in the middle of winter and I need to carry on with my rugby presentation for the pupils but I hope to write to you next week with some more exciting news.
