Harlequins 'A' kept their unbeaten form with a 33-25 victory over reigning Aviva 'A' league champions, Exeter Braves.
It was a very scrappy first half, with the slippery conditions preventing either side from gaining consistent momentum. Points came from both Ben Botica and Henry Slade, but it was the hosts that took a 12-3 lead at half time.
In the second half, replacements from both sides injected pace into the game and as a result the match became more expansive.
Sam Smith scored the evening's first try which preceded scores from Exeter's Justin Blanchet, Luke Cowan-Dickie and Aaron Struminski and Harlequins' Jordan Burns and Will Skinner.
As a result of the victory, Harlequins remain top of the Aviva 'A' Southern Conference with three wins and a draw.
Botica and Slade had exchanged a penalty each within the first five minutes of the match. Both sides struggled to play and gain momentum due to many errors.
Between both kickers missing a shot on goal, Botica put Harlequins ahead approaching the 20 minute mark and as the half progressed, the Harlequins centre added two more before the break.
His last kick of the half came as a result of a yellow card to Will Carrick-Smith. The Braves' lock was sent to the sin bin for coming off his feet at the break down.
In the second half, Harlequins were more expensive and on 48 minutes they crossed the whitewash. Attacking in the Braves' 22, Rory Clegg shipped a wide pass to Ollie Lindsay-Hague. The full-back who had made a number of darting runs all evening shipped to Pete Browne. With a two on one on the far touchline, the second row popped to Smith who avoided two covering tackles to score. Botica converted to give Quins a 19-3 lead.
Exeter responded very positively, kicking a penalty to touch for a five metre lineout. From the set piece a driving maul was set up and Blanchet popped up with the ball. Slade's conversion reduced the gap to nine points.
When Charlie Walker replaced Tom Casson in the centres, he made an instant impact. Breaking from his own 22, the England U20 raced up field and passed to Miles Mantella outside him.
The winger was tackled, but the momentum remained with Quins and they worked up to the line. Darryl Marfo came close, but it was a sniping dart from Jordan Burns that got Harlequins the score. Botica's conversion extended the lead to 26-10.
Slade added a penalty before the hour and missed a conversion following his side's second try. Quins' ill-discipline allowed the Braves to kick to touch from a penalty. The ball was gathered efficiently and following a strong rolling maul, Cowan-Dickie scored.
From a similar move at the other end of the pitch nine minutes later, Will Skinner popped up with the ball over the whitewash. Botica converted which brought his personal tally to 18.
It was however the Braves that had the final say. Slade finished off an impressive kicking display with a perfectly weighted cross field kick inside the 22 for Aaron Struminski to score in the corner. From the touchline, Slade converted.
This closed the scoring and as the final moments panned out, Harlequins won 33-25.
