I have worked a very long week this week, 57 hours in total. I have to admit, it has been worth it as there have been some great days of rugby and competitions.
On Monday we visited the brand new SESI school and despite only spending the morning there, they picked up the rules of the game so fast it was amazing.
The next day was spent in Votorantim with Alex Grieve. Alex is another trainer for Premiership rugby based here and he had organised a festival with group. Unfortunately, only one class was available and only 15 pupils came, but they were fantastic. I got to play for a bit with all the SESI teachers. We played the older students in a small game, I think we beat them 12-2, I'm not sure but it was fun to have a run out.
It has been boiling this week. I spent three hours out in the sun on Wednesday and nearly died getting ready for my Tatui rugby festival.
Thursday came and it rained, but did that stop us? No. Three SESI schools took part in a festival for 13-14 year olds and we had 72 players running around enjoying themselves. Tatui of course were Champions with Boituva second and Cerqhilo third. I was so happy with my players, they were great. Our captains were volleyball players, they used their skills from that to help in the final so was good to see the two sports merging.
Friday was normal day of classes, but a lot of children are now travelling away for Christmas holidays to see family.
On Saturday I went to a friend's wedding, it was my first wedding in Brazil and it was very different to home. After the ceremony, the groom and brother went around collecting money, making lots of noise and cutting up a tie to give to people once they paid, that was interesting to say the least.
This is my last blog before I go on my Christmas holidays so I will let you know what the week is like.
Tchau for Now
