Twitter is a fantastic way for the club to keep everyone informed, gain feedback and give our members and supporters live updates as and when Harlequins news breaks.
Harlequins have close to 20,000 Twitter followers and they are some of the most passionate, fanatic and engaging supporters using the site.
Below we have answered some questions that we are frequently asked by our supporters to help you see what we will and won't use Twitter for and therefore what you can expect from us via this channel.
Why do Harlequins use Twitter?
By following the official Harlequins account (@QuinsRugbyUnion) our loyal followers will have access to up to the minute news and views from the club they support.
Twitter is one of the best ways for the club to interact with our supporters and keep them informed of the latest news, views and day to day activity at the club.
@QuinsRugbyUnion has close to 20,000 followers (and counting). At the click of a button we can communicate messages directly to our supporters at home, work or while they are out and about.
What Hashtags do we use?
A hashtag (#) is a way to categorise your tweet and join in conversations with other @QuinsRugbyUnion followers.
We use hashtags on match days and non-match days.

Who are the Tweeters?
Our social media channels are operated through the Communications department at the club. This is managed by the Media and PR Manager and the Media and PR Executive.
Will there be updates during fixtures?
We understand that even the most loyal supporter cannot make every single game and despite the entertaining rugby on the field, we cannot always attract the TV cameras. The @QuinsRugbyUnion account will provide a running commentary of what's going on at home matches so you don't miss a thing. Unfortunately we cannot offer this service at away games just yet, but this is something we are looking at and if we can in the future we certainly will.
Why do you not reply to our tweets?
With close to 20,000 followers it is hard to respond to everyone. However we will do our best to respond to your questions so we can constantly keep you in the know and engaged with what's happening at Harlequins.
Why do you never update us on injuries?
We understand that knowing when your favourite players are returning from injury is high on your list of things to be updated on. Unfortunately, this information is also valuable to the opposition and by keeping quiet, it makes it difficult for opposing teams to monitor players' recovery and return to action.
Do the Harlequins players tweet?

Are these accounts actually them?
Yes, we are also in the process of verifying the players' accounts. A verified account is shown by a blue tick on a profile. This tick establishes authenticity and allows followers to discover high-quality sources of information and trust that it is legitimate.
What new things will you be doing on Twitter?
We recently asked our followers what they wanted to see more of from our Twitter account and we received some great suggestions. As a direct result of your feedback, we have an exciting plan going forward.
On Twitter, expect to see much more imagery and behind the scenes photos as we build our own stories using this platform. We are also looking into player take overs and developing a Harlequins television channel so our followers can get exclusive insight into the day to day activity at the club.
Why do you never respond to me?
We have been guilty in the past of not replying to questions, feedback and enquiries sent to the account. This is something we are changing and we endeavour to respond to as many of your questions as possible. However, we literally get hundreds of tweets a day so responding to everyone will be difficult.
Will you retweet me?
In many cases we can and will retweet you. There are however some occasions where it is not appropriate for the club to give you a retweet.
