Harlequins' Prop Will Collier talks you through the perfect line-out lift
The five delegates from Brazil and Scott Watson from Premiership rugby visited Bishop Perrin to observe how Harlequins engage with the local community and how sport is being used as an educational tool in the MBNA Tackling Numbers programme.
Tackling Numbers is an award winning interactive numeracy programme for young children. The programme is developed and delivered by Premiership Rugby in partnership with MBNA. This five week programme aims to teach 8-9 year olds the importance of number skills in everyday life.
The rugby-themed programme is delivered in schools by representatives from all 12 Premiership Rugby clubs, through both classroom sessions and practical number-based rugby games. This innovative and engaging programme makes learning about numbers fun, exciting and rewarding, inspiring children to both improve their numeracy skills and their physical health.
The party spent the first hour interacting with the children during their maths lesson; this was then followed by the practical tag rugby session outside
Brian Holland Harlequins Community coach said Rugby maths is a great way for the children to learn, it makes the maths fun and different, one of my favourite sessions is when the children get to design a stadium using different shapes, some of the designs are amazing!!
