George Merrick started playing rugby when he was 14 at Carshalton Boys Sports College and joined the Quins School of Rugby stage of the academy at 14. He then moved up in to the EPDG at 16 and joined the full time Harlequins academy at the beginning of the 2011/2012 season.

George represented Surrey at U15 and U16 in 2008/2009, London and South East at U16 and more recently has represented England at U18, U19 and U20.
He was also in the Great Britain australian rules football squad in 2008.

Within the next year Geoge is most looking forward to working with experienced players such as George Robson and Will Skinner, and gaining knowledge from them on and off the pitch. He also would like to get game time in A league and the LV Cup.

George's favourite rugby achievements are making the England U20 squad and winning the Daily Mail Cup with Whitgift for 2 consecutives years.

This season George is on loan to Richmond.
