Harlequins' Academy back row, Jack Clifford is one of four newcomers named in the England Sevens squad for the next two legs of the HSBC Sevens World Series.
Howard's playing career started at school, however he started playing league before converting him to the Union code at the age of 11. His professional career started for Southern Suburbs in Sydney, NSW. Howard returned and joined 7th Parachute Regt. RHA within the British Army. He had the pleasure of serving in many places across the world, as well as having the opportunity to visit many enjoyable venues on the 7's circuit such as Hong Kong, Singapore, KL and Dubai. Howard has captained England 7s, played in the Army vs Navy game 13 times at Twickenham and also skippered the British Army Team of the 2001 & 2004 when they won the Middlesex 7's.
After 19 years in the Army he took a coaching job at Coventry to further his experience. Although he made his name on the 7's pitch, he joins us with 30 years experience of playing and coaching in the 15's game.
Howard's main roles will be coaching and identifying playing talent within existing club, school and development squads and to assist the Academy Manager in all other aspects of the Academy process.
