The Etihad Grass Roots Fund is designed to support organisations committed to enhancing Age Grade rugby in their communities, and will be recognised through visits from Harlequins players to help launch projects.
Peter Baumgartner, Etihad Airways' Chief Commercial Officer, said: "The Etihad Grass Roots Fund follows a proud line of community projects that we are committed to around the world across many different sports.
"Together with our friends at Harlequins we are excited to launch this new fund which will support the development of Age Grade rugby talent across South East England."
Applicants can request any amount of financial support from the Etihad Grass Roots Fund and projects can take any form as long as the intention is to enhance the experience of children within the sport.
Conor O'Shea, Director of Rugby at Harlequins, said: "The grass roots and young players are vital to rugby because that's where the next generation of rugby players comes from.
"The fund will also go further than just improving the level of rugby played; it will also boost the communities they're based in."
It is anticipated that applications will cover a wide range of projects from funding new equipment, to support for clubs to gain RFU Coaching qualifications for Age Grade coaches.
Successful applications will be chosen by a panel of expert judges which includes Conor O'Shea, and Chris Robshaw, the England and Harlequins captain.
Applications to the Etihad Grass Roots Fund will close on 12th April 2014, and successful applicants will be announced on 19th April.
