Harlequins Rugby Union : The Club : Dave Ward to join Harlequins

Join Harlequins for their second home friendly against Glasgow Warriors on Saturday 24th August (Kick-off 2.30pm) and experience the newly launched President's Lounge.

England Under 20s have named their side to take on New Zealand in the semi-final of the IRB Junior World Championship in Vannes, France, today, kick off 1945 (GMT).

The 26-year-old hooker will join from Cornish Pirates where he has made over 100 appearances over the past three seasons following spells with Sale Sharks, Northampton Saints and Bath. Dave also played at under age level for England.

Commenting on his move Dave Ward said, "I'm very excited about joining Harlequins and working with Conor O'Shea, John Kingston and the coaching team and players. The team plays an attractive style of rugby that suits me and that combined with the club's current position at the top of the Aviva Premiership, makes this move an exciting opportunity for me.

Announcing Dave's signing, Harlequins Director of Rugby, Conor O'Shea said, "With the recent retirement of Matt Cairns and the long term injury to Chris Brooker, we needed a talented player to complement our existing front row. Dave fits the profile of the type of player we want at this club and his style of play fits ours. He has the drive and ambition to play at the very highest level and we look forward to seeing him work with Joe Gray, Rob Buchanan and Chris Brooker next season."
