The J.P. Morgan Premiership Rugby 7s Cup took place at Old Reigations RFC on Saturday 18th May and was a day full of fast-running, thrilling rugby.

With the conference finished we headed off for a dinner in the President's restaurant which I have to say was amazing. After lunch we were given the afternoon off to explore and later we were invited to O'Malleys bar near the hotel for a few drinks with the President's son.
Another busy day followed with us heading off to the British Council to sort out our mobile phones and meet British Council members for lunch and a chat. The building itself is fantastic. It's very modern and full of contemporary art exhibitions. With another afternoon off we headed out to pack for the big move the next day to our individual projects and to finish off our stay we were invited to watch Sao Paulo play football. I'm not a massive fan of the "beautiful game", but I actually quite enjoyed it and was surprised to see the difference in atmosphere to football back home.
Then the big moving day arrived. We visited the Brazilian football museum in the morning to learn about how the sport started and grew in Brazil; according to the museum the gentleman who introduced football to Brazil also brought rugby but the sport did not take off… well until we arrived!
Soon after the museum visit we each headed to our cities. I am based in Tatui with our sports co-ordinators. We then spent the next few days travelling around local cities with barbecues, visits to local bars and experiencing the local culture. We also visited our SESI sites with mine being SESI Tatui. The facilities where I am based are fantastic and I can't wait to get the rugby started.
We played a small-sided game with some local teachers and found that the few youngsters that came in picked rugby up quickly. Fingers crossed they don't beat the home nations too soon!
