Harlequin Ladies

Harlequins Ladies

Harlequin Ladies Football Club was born in September 1995 when two ardent Quins fans moved to the area and wanted to set up a Ladies team. The idea soon grew into a squad that was to win their first league unbeaten. Since then Harlequin Ladies have gone from strength to strength, establishing a highly successful youth side; forming strong links with the main club and the local community and developing an enviable social calendar!

Within just five seasons, Harlequin Ladies had reached the dizzying heights of Division 1. There have been many changes to the squad over the years, but with a number of new recruits and former youth team 'graduates' joining the senior side, the team continues develop and diversify. The past few seasons have seen the arrival of new coaches and several new players, having a distinctly beneficial impact on the squad and yielding significant league wins in the last 3 years. One of the most notable of the past few seasons was a fantastic run of league wins seeing Harlequin Ladies rack up a total of 173 points to nil in three matches!

2009-10 featured a riveting campaign for Harlequin Ladies with some phenomenal highs and the occasional low, culminating in their thrilling win over Castricum Ladies for the tenth anniversary Sue Moloney Memorial Cup last May at the Stoop. And last season the Ladies set up home at Old Isleworthians Rugby Club while developing our new additions and old war horses alike!

2011-12 promises to be an exciting season for Harlequin Ladies with some new coaching staff and new players and as pre-season training cracked on in July, we have high hopes for a successful season!

Tours

The Ladies have always worked hard to develop a strong social side to their game. In addition to regular outings ranging from picnics at the Middlesex Sevens to pub crawls in Twickenham, each season is rounded off with tours for both the senior and youth team squads.

So far the Ladies have seen the sights of Dublin, Cork, Treviso, Amsterdam, Paris, Ghent, Stockholm, Amsterdam, Copenhagen and Northern Ireland, with the Ladies most recently returning to Stockholm at the end of July. They have also been known to return with silverware on several occasions! Not only have these tours provided the opportunity to meet and play against many new teams, they have also been an excellent way for new members to really get to know their team-mates.

Funding

Quins Ladies is a self-funded Club and at the heart of every amateur sport is the need for adequate funding. Any offer of sponsorship is always appreciated and no deal is too small! Contact us to find out what opportunities we can offer your business at quinsladies@hotmail.com.

The Community

The Ladies are also kept busy off the pitch, often in the support of local fundraising events. These have included the record breaking abseil off Twickenham Stadium for Cancer Research UK, The Shooting Star Children's Hospice and supporting the main club in their charity events. The Harlequin Ladies are always on the look out for new players. Whether an old-hand or a complete novice, we want you!

Training

Harlequin Ladies train on Tuesday and Thursday nights from 7.30pm to 9.00pm at Old Isleworthians Rugby Club in Isleworth. Please see our website for a location map for the training ground
