Harlequins Women can confirm that Alex Eddie has retired from Allianz Premier 15s rugby
Harlequins Women can today confirm that forward Alex Eddie has retired from Allianz Premier 15s rugby after four seasons in South West London due to work commitments.
Eddie has balanced her rugby career alongside her role as a Captain in the British Army and has featured 16 times in the Famous Quarters winning the Allianz Premier 15s title 25-17 against Saracens Women in her last game for Quins at Kingsholm Stadium in Gloucester.
On confirming her retirement, Eddie said: “The last four years at Harlequins have been absolutely amazing! Winning the Allianz Premier 15s title in my last game after just missing out in the last two finals was an incredible way to end my career.
“Being at Quins for such a long period of time has been a brilliant experience. Every player has an abundance of quality and potential and to train and play among this team has been the highlight of my career.
“I would like to say a massive thank you to both Karen Findlay and Gerard Mullen who have supported me all season long and gave me the opportunity to play for such a great club like Harlequins. I must also say a huge thanks to Merrick Steward, Liv Withers and the rest of the S&C and Medical team who have kept me fit and healthy throughout my time at the club.”
Head Coach Gerard Mullen added: “Alex has been a very committed and dedicated player and it was great to give her the perfect send-off winning the league a few weeks ago. To be able to play for so many years at such a high level, overcoming injuries along the way is outstanding.
“She has always been a team player and it’s been brilliant to be able to have worked with her last season and I wish her nothing but all the best in her future career.”
