Harlequins is thrilled to announce the return of Big Game, the thirteenth instalment of the biggest annual club rugby game in world rugby!

With the long-awaited return of spectators at live events, Harlequins is delighted to announce the return of the world’s biggest annual club rugby event for a thirteenth year.

Big Game 13, supported by Charles Stanley Wealth Managers will mark Harlequins’ second-ever Double Header, with both the Club’s Men’s and Women’s teams in action for what is sure to be an incredible festive day of entertainment both on and off the pitch, with the exciting theme, ‘Fire & Ice’.

This seismic doubleheader will see Harlequins Men face Northampton Saints in the Gallagher Premiership in what is set to be an exciting affair as two expansive sides go blow-to-blow.

Harlequins Women will host rivals Wasps Women in a huge Allianz Premier 15s clash as they recreate last season’s league semi-final. A match-up that will likely have a significant impact on the final standings of the 2021.22 league campaign.

The annual festive blockbuster event will see Harlequins return to the Club’s second home, and the scene of the Men’s squad’s historic Premiership Final victory in June, to take on Northampton Saints on Bank Holiday Monday, December 27, 17.00 kick-off.

After our Women’s Twickenham debut at Big Game 12 in front of a record crowd for Women’s club rugby, the Champions return to the big stage to play Wasps Women in the first Allianz Premier 15s match to take place at The Twickenham Stadium, 13.00 kick-off.

Later this month the Club will also reveal our global star entertainment act who will be performing at Big Game 13 which is always a fantastic day out for families with some spectacular action on and off the pitch. Supporters can expect an exciting day packed with a range of activities for all the family and a series of spectacular displays of Fire & Ice – at this stage we don’t want to spoil the surprise of the event by saying more…but expect a lot of ice and a lot of flames!

And of course, we will see the familiar player walk over from The Stoop, food and drink and a seamless fan entertainment program that runs from the Stoop to the interactive Twickenham West Fan Village to the spectacular in-stadium show Big Game is famous for. And over 1,000 local community rugby club kids will again get the opportunity to play on the pitch, providing incredible experiences and memories.

Big Game is an event that is leveraged to support the Harlequins Foundation's vital work taking place in our heartlands and beyond - and this year will be no different. With exciting news about the players kit, an incredible competition not to be missed and some brilliant rugby innovation to follow, we again plan to support our local community and use rugby as a force for good.

Thrilled to welcome back Big Game, Harlequins CEO Laure Dalrymple said: “The return of Big Game 13 is huge for the sports industry, this Club and we know hugely popular for our local community. There is no hiding from the challenge COVID has had on all our lives over the last 18 months, but now we can truly look forward to a moment of coming together and celebrating with friends and families, in this annual festive tradition.

"We can’t wait to see a packed 82,000 Twickenham stadium and we have put together the biggest and best Big Game event yet – not only two superb rugby matches but an entertainment programme that is bigger and higher profile than any other Big Game. We are determined to take the world’s biggest club rugby event to a new level and encourage our supporters to bring their friends and families along to experience it.”

Excited to return to Big Game, Harlequins star Joe Marler said: “I love the Big Game. It is amazing, and fun, and a great family day out. There’s so much to do. Have something to eat and drink and spend some time with family at a Christmas event over a really lovely Christmas period.

“It is great to have the Big Game back now fans are back in stadiums. It’s a genuine privilege to play in front of 82,000 fans for your club, and I’m looking forward to playing in another massive Big Game.”
