Harlequins unveil global icon DJ for Big Game 13 in stunning Twickenham Stadium roof reveal

Harlequins is delighted to unveil global star DJ Pete Tong, MBE, as the music act for Big Game 13

The Club is thrilled to announce that local resident and international star DJ Tong will perform at Big Game 13 at Twickenham Stadium on Monday, December 27. Tong will deliver a 25-minute DJ set on the pitch at Twickenham Stadium between the Harlequins Men’s and Women’s matches, in what promises to be the biggest ever Big Game event, packed with entertainment.

Few can claim the level of influence on dance music than Tong. In an over 30-year career to date, Tong has become a leading tastemaker of the electric generation and an industry icon alongside his position as the voice of Radio 1’s prestigious dance programming. He is the leading voice for the industry, championing new talent and changing the way people think about electronic dance music.

Tong also owns his own record label, is touring his Ibiza Classics show, featuring the 65 strong Heritage Orchestra, works in the film industry and is the founder of the International Music Summit. In short, it is hard to think of a more influential person in the development and growth of dance music.

Accompanied by a spectacular light show and dancers, Tong will perform at the biggest annual club game in world rugby this Christmas, in what will be the highest-profile entertainment act to perform at the event, now in its 13th edition. Tong will perform a DJ set on the middle of the pitch between the two high profile rugby matches as Champions Harlequins Women host Wasps Women, followed by Champions Harlequins against Northampton Saints.

Harlequins Chief Executive Officer Laurie Dalrymple said: “Everyone at Harlequins is thrilled to announce Pete Tong as the star music act for Big Game. Big Game is truly London’s biggest rugby party, and the addition of an internationally renowned music pioneer in Pete Tong is befitting of the biggest annual club game in rugby.

“We are filled with excitement to take over Twickenham stadium once again this year for what is set to be a blockbuster event and to see Pete entertain the crowd will bring a new dimension to this iconic event. The Fire & Ice event theme includes many exciting elements including stadium light and pyro show, ice sculptures and firebreathers, the Live West Fan Village Rugby Roadshow, and a very unique way for the match ball to arrive…We know how much our supporters love the festive spectacular that Big Game delivers each year – we can promise that this will be the biggest and best ever!”

Pete Tong said: “I have been fortunate to play at some of the most iconic venues and events around the world for over three decades now, but Big Game holds special appeal to me. As a South West London resident, it feels great to be returning home to play for my community on the biggest stage in world rugby. After the challenging last 18 months we have all faced through COVID, Big Game 13 is a time to come together with friends and family to celebrate - and I can’t wait to be a central part of that!”
