Club Captain has written a letter to thank the 500 supporters who travelled to Ashton Gate
To our amazing supporters at Ashton Gate on Saturday.
It’s hard to put into words how we as a team feel right now. The singing, the flags, the colour, the relentless enthusiasm and ‘never say die’ attitude you showed. Your support at the weekend was unreal and it’s something we will never forget.
It’s crazy to think that there were over 6,000 Bristol supporters this weekend and just 500 from Quins. But you, ‘the 500’, completely outshone our opposition and made us truly proud to play for you and represent this incredible Club.
As a group we’ve reflected a lot this year on what it means to play for the famous Quarters and how far we’ve come as a team. There have been many inspirational players and Quins teams before us in this Club’s incredible history - we feel privileged to be part of this great story.
Throughout the season, we’ve given it our all, we’ve been determined to keep up momentum, but we admit we had unbelievable challenges and trials along the way. One thing that has become clear to us this year is that without hearing our supporters in the grounds, it just hasn’t been the same.
Our three matches with limited crowds at The Stoop reminded us why we do what we do. It’s all for you, the supporters and we’ve loved every second of having you all back.
Away matches are different, and we love that so many people in the past have travelled to support us. This time though was extra special. We really felt your energy, your excitement, and your belief in us as we went into the second half. You made us believe we could do it, make a comeback like no team has done before, and make it through to the Final. It was you.
And so to each and every one of you that were singing ‘Come All Within’ in the crowd on Saturday – ‘the 500’ - thank you! We hope your voices have recovered in time for Saturday!
Supporters stand the test of time. You outlast seasons, players, coaches and staff. You span eras, highs and lows, you carry the memories and the traditions and the spirit of this great Club. As players we wear the Jester with pride, and we wear it with you.
We still have a job to do. We want to make you proud, just as you did us.
We hope we can bring this one home for you!
