Quins Women score eleven tries in win over DMP Durham Sharks

Harlequins Women have back-to-back wins in the Premier 15s after an impressive 69-7 win against DMP Sharks at the Stoop.

Captain Rachael Burford, on her first start since injury, got the first try five minutes in after Davinia Catlin broke through a couple of tackles and then offloaded expertly.

Catlin then scored a try of her own, finishing off a classic Quins driving maul, before Shaunagh Brown glided through after a clever dummy pass to score the third.

The bonus point was secured just before halftime. Harlequins showed good hands, patiently moving the ball left and then moving it right, where there was space for Emily Robinson to go over in the corner.

In the second half the Famous Quarters picked up where they left off, with Emily Scott weaving past numerous players to score in the corner.

The sixth try came around the 50-minute mark, with Catlin getting her second after another driving maul.

After this came a number of changes, including Vickii Cornborough who made her 50th appearance for Harlequins.

The next two tries for Quins both came from stealing DMP Sharks’ lineout. The first was powered over by Sarah Beckett. The second came after Ellie Kildunne brilliantly exchanged passes with Freya Aucken to score in the corner.

DMP Sharks would get a try of their own, starting from a mazy run by Lauren Torley and finished by Meg Gardner powering over.

This brought fresh life into Harlequins, who finished the game with three tries in the final 10 minutes.

Izzy Mayhew saw space in DMP Sharks’ line to sprint home from 40m, and this was quickly followed by Bethan Dainton skipping past a few tackles to score in the middle.

The final try was scored by Ellie Kildunne, who scampered down the left wing to score her second and complete a comprehensive victory.
