Player biography

The second most capped Harlequins’ player of all time, Danny Care has been a prominent player at the club since his arrival from Leeds Tykes in 2006.

A high tempo scrum-half, Care shares the same heartbeat as Harlequins with his rapid pace and quick thinking perfectly suiting the club’s high tempo style of play.

Care has been at the centre of three memorable days in the club’s history starting the 2011 Challenge Cup triumph over Stade Francais as well as the club’s two Premiership Finals in 2012 and 2021.

The club captain during the 2015/16 and 2016/17 seasons leading them to a European Rugby Challenge Cup Final before helping them back into the top tier of European rugby the following season.

Making his mark on the international stage with the England Sevens in the 2004 Commonwealth Games, Care made his senior international debut at the age of 21 against New Zealand replacing Richard Wigglesworth.

A regular in the England squad, Care became one of England’s most-capped scrum-halves and was a key member of the 2016/17 world-record-setting win streak, as well as the back-to-back Six Nations titles. He has since amassed 84 caps and 14 tries in total.

In October 2018, Care made his 250th appearance for Harlequins and marked it with a trademark breakaway try against Saracens at The Stoop in the Gallagher Premiership.

In April 2021, he become just the third player to represent the club on 300 occasions. Care finished the 2020/21 season as Harlequins top scorer in the Premiership with 12 tries while he also assisted a season high of 15.
